Doors, windows, thresholds and floor coverings

A barrier-free building must meet various requirements in terms of doors, windows, thresholds and flooring.

Doors should be easy to recognize, open, close and pass through. Satisfactory contrasts and the avoidance of reflections should be taken into account. Windows should be easy to open and close from a standing and seated position. Alternatively, operating aids can be installed for doors, windows and curtains.

Ramps are used to bridge thresholds. These can be permanently installed or mobile.

The floor coverings should be level, non-slip, easy to walk or drive on and not electrostatically chargeable.
