Lifts
A lift transports people or objects vertically between two or more floors. They can be used in both public and private buildings.
Single-person lifts are usually installed inside residential buildings, while larger models are usually attached to the outside wall. This allows people with limited mobility to move between floors independently. Depending on the size, a wheelchair or rollator can be carried.
The lift car moves in a vertical shaft. Stopping is only possible at defined stops, which are permanently programmed. There are models in which the drive is attached to the car itself or to the counterweights. These are more space-saving and can be better installed in existing buildings or in private housekeeping. In order for the car to stop at ground level at the lowest landing, a pit must be dug for the shaft. If the lift is to stop at ground level, a ramp should be installed for barrier-free access.
Every lift is equipped with a control panel and an emergency call system. In addition to a minimum size, elevators for the disabled must also meet special technical requirements. Encryption is used to prevent unauthorized use. A special key switch allows travel only with the appropriate key. In addition, the car should be equipped with a dead man's control system. The system only moves as long as the control or button is pressed.
