The nose cut-out allows the cup to be held straight. The head does not have to be stretched backwards - this often leads to choking if liquid gets into the windpipe.
The two extra-large handles are easy to grip. They are shaped so that they can be gripped with up to four fingers. The mouth can either be placed on the flat edge and the cut-out used for the nose. When used in reverse (mouth is placed on the cut-out), the user has a high level of assurance that no drinks can leak out at the corners of the mouth. The cut-out securely encloses the mouth up to the corners of the mouth. This is helpful for people with reduced sensitivity in the mouth and lip area.
This drinking aid also offers help to people who have difficulty swallowing due to Parkinson's disease, a stroke, multiple sclerosis, tumor diseases, ALS, dementia or age-related problems, for example, or who have restricted movement in the throat and neck area.
