The scissors replace conventional mechanical scissors when fine motor impairments no longer permit use or cutting is too strenuous. Pressing down on the handle is enough to move the blade to cut through paper or light fabrics.
Working in partners, even users with minimal or uncoordinated movements can activate the scissors. It is sufficient if the users can trigger external buttons or sensors.

The caregiver merely guides the electric scissors through the material; the actual users switch the scissors on and off using the connected button.
With the button plugged in, the scissors can only work as long as the handle and the button are pressed together.
