An acoustic signal is amplified by these devices.

A microphone or infrared receiver picks up sounds or uses a file from a storage medium. The signals are transmitted to the end device, which sits directly on the ear. The playback is only audible to the people wearing them. They can be connected to different sound sources via a jack adapter or Bluetooth.
