Even after an amputation of the lower arm or a congenital malformation, the mental representation of the hand is usually retained in the brain. Amputees can still imagine closing, opening or rotating the hand. To do this, the remaining muscles in the residual limb are activated. Electrodes on the forearm convert the muscle signals into myoelectric signals and translate them directly into a movement of the prosthetic hand. Myo Plus learns to interpret the individual movement patterns and assigns them to a specific prosthetic movement. These patterns can be adapted using the Myo Plus app.
