Every day, the leg stump changes. 1 percent, 5 percent, 10 percent are some of the figures quoted in the literature depending on various factors. What is certain is that these figures are satisfactory enough to ruin the day for prosthesis wearers. Some changes - triggered by activities such as walking or running - happen within minutes. Changes caused by nutrition, travel or illness develop over several days. Temperature and amputation-related changes, such as muscle atrophy or post-operative edema, develop over months.
Roliner uses gas - which inflates or deflates a microfluidic architecture inside the liner - to make dynamic adaptations. Users can change these settings wirelessly via their cell phone using a control unit.

The prototype has not yet been approved for the German market.
