inhalation equipment

Assistive products for inhalation therapy treat acute and chronic illnesses of the lower and upper respiratory tract such as bronchitis, bronchial asthma, cystic fibrosis or pneumonia. Nasopharyngeal infections such as the common cold and whooping cough can also be treated with inhalation devices.

Inhalations are cleansing, anti-inflammatory, soothing and soften dried secretions. Inhalation devices administer gaseous active ingredients or aerosols (a mixture of solid and/or liquid suspended particles and air) such as saline, essential oils or medication atomized into mists.

Warm air inhalers are suitable for people who are sensitive to cold deep inhalation. These devices take in the ambient air and heat it before inhalation.

Inhalation can take place via a steam bath or via technical devices such as nebulizer systems. A distinction is made between

  • Nozzle nebulizers: a compressor generates compressed air, which carries liquid particles with it
  • Ultrasonic nebulizer: an ultrasonic crystal generates vibrations in the liquid, which causes droplets to be ejected
  • Membrane nebulizer: the liquid is pressed through a membrane with a defined pore size, creating droplets

There are also combination devices that can also aspirate secretions.
