- strength training
Description:
People with weak foot dorsiflexion need to concentrate a lot to avoid tripping. Every uneven surface becomes a danger zone. The almost automated movement process of "walking" confronts the person affected with a task that they have to perform consciously, step by step. This is at the expense of their perception of their environment. In the case of foot drop, the foot very often does not touch down with the heel first, but with the forefoot or the entire sole of the foot. A natural rolling movement of the foot and swinging the leg forward is no longer possible with foot drop. The affected person cramps up and walks abnormally, sometimes even with clawed toes.
The leg is swung forward with a circular hip movement. In the long term, people who move in this way complain of pain in their hips and pelvis.
The forefoot lift uses targeted exercises to activate the neural control of the muscles responsible (mainly the front shin muscles) for a better gait pattern.
The leg remains completely relaxed during the exercise. The focus is on the forefoot and the anterior shin muscle. The toes should remain stretched during the exercise and not be pulled upwards.
The textile resistance bands can be replaced without tools so that they can be washed in the washing machine if used by several people.
